Possible explosion damages Murfreesboro apartment building

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Murfreesboro police are investigating after a possible explosive device damaged an apartment Wednesday morning.

It happened at approximately 4:11 a.m. at the Vie Apartments on Wenlon Drive, not far from Middle Tennessee State University.

Murfreesboro police reported some type of improvised explosive device caused minor damage to one unit and no one was injured.

Part of one building was evacuated and the area has been cordoned off, according to Murfreesboro police.

Multiple agencies are assisting with the investigation, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross also responded to the scene and is feeding the impacted residents and investigators.
